This Painting is from a photo taken by a young man named Austin Kennedy in Wyoming. I excitedly asked for and was given permission by him to paint it I'll be forever grateful for the privilege. I love the dark trees bookending the light and energy of the falls with strong verticals contrasting the flow of the water and all crowned by the tall pine trees

As I painted it

The challenge to this composition was to craft a focal point from a solid wall of trees and rocks

Use masking fluid with texture

A timeless message

The shadows and retaining wall are the horizontal cruciforms that hold it all together

I can just imagine awakening in this quiet place as the golden glow of morning and soft waters balance in the mist and the Sun slowly repeats its eternal and timeless journey across the sky

I titled this painting of the Red Rock Canyon area of Las Vegas "Landmark" because some paintings just elevate you to another level

A special moment from a special time in an ordinary extraordinary place
