Alarm Transmission Systems (ATS) provide a means of sending alarm messages (such as fire, intrusion, access control or social alarm) from protected premises to an Alarm Receiving Centre. As such, ATSs are as important as the alarm systems they support, so it was felt that the existing suite of European ATS standards could be improved. This led to PD 6669 being developed in the UK to supplement the BS EN 50136
