Made to Order Ophelia Peony Dinnerware handmade blue mugA dinnerware set inspired by the fluffy warm breath of Spring. This project was conceived to capture that fleeting first bouquet of the peony flower. I spent a week throwing porcelain plates, and carving each piece to emulate the pillowy layers of paper thin petals, surrounded by their unearthly scent. Process: The initial set was cast in plaster, creating a mold from which successive pieces can be made. The porcelain clay is now pressed into the mold

choosing to eat more plants- the effect is small

Looks lovely as a fruit bowl centerpiece

not your basic terra pot

much to their detriment

it is draped in the palest green hue

may drip organically or appear antiqued

Lively plate with Carolina Parakeet perched on an orange branch

and I never tire of watching them monopolizing the sunflower stalks

The glazing style is a single color brushed glaze- the natural variance in how loaded the brush is with color variates the surface

making the piece water tight

This vase is made from porcelain and a Brooklyn red clay
